Kerala
By Our Staff Reporter
At a press conference here today, he said that vote bank politics had degenerated into minority appeasement tactics and that the political leadership of the State was turning a blind eye to such developments for obvious reasons. The morcha leader said that the time had reached for Kerala to initiate a serious political discussion on Hindutva. He said the truth behind the real forces, which led the reformation movement in Kerala, was being hidden from the younger generation. The pro-Left tinge within the academic sector was the main reason for it, he said. Mr. Ramesh said that it was to counter the same that the morcha was organising a four-day ``Yuvasamavesh'' in Palakkad from March 13 with the theme ``A new Kerala through cultural nationalism''. The event would be inaugurated by the BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu. The Union Ministers, Murli Manohar Joshi and O. Rajagopal, and the BJYM national president, G. Kishen Reddy, will address. He stuck to the stand that people's representatives taking oath of office in the name of ``Allah'' is a violation of the Constitution. He, at the same time, said that there appears to be no harm if the oath was taken in the name of ``Ishwar'' for it means God. With regard to the Muthanga developments, Mr. Ramesh said that both the UDF and the LDF were adopting double standards when it comes to addressing the problems of Adivasis. What was needed was to implement the 1975 Act which warrants handing over the lost land back to the Adivasis. However, the act was torpedoed by both the fronts and instead supported those who had encroached and settled in the Adivasi land. The morcha leaders, G. Hari, K. Rajivan, C. Thampi and Nedumbana Omanakuttan, were also present at the press conference.
