The President of the balaga, Veerabhadra Simpi, criticised the parishat for not including the names of young writers and poets of the region as participants in different sessions of the sammelan. According to him, Mr. Punaroor had said during the election campaign that there was an urgent need for the recognition of young writers of Hyderabad Karnataka region in the literary activities of the parishat, and promised to undo the mistakes committed in the past. Mr. Simpi pointed out that except for two poets and two speakers from Gulbarga District, no other writer from Hyderabad-Karnatak region, including Raichur, Koppal, and Bidar, had been included in the sessions at the sammelan. Artistes of the region had been ignored in the cultural programmes organised as part of the sammelan, he added.
