Centre to consider ban on tridents

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI FEB. 19. The Centre will consider banning `trishul' (tridents) under the Arms Act, the Union Minister of State for Home, I.D. Swami, said during question hour in the Rajya Sabha today.

He was answering a supplementary query by Kapil Sibal (Congress) on a question regarding communal clashes, raised by Suresh Pachauri (Congress).

Pointing out that some organisation had started distribution of weapons of offence in the form of tridents to a particular community and that this might disturb communal harmony, Mr. Sibal asked whether the Government planned any action under the Arms Act.
