Pak. lawyers resent order

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Feb. 19. Pakistan's Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has threatened to launch a countrywide movement on February 28 to protest the extension in the retirement age of judges in the superior courts.

The SCBA president, Hamid Khan, said: "The Bar will observe a black day on March 8 because the sitting Chief Justice was to retire on that date under the previous law. Now he will hold the office for another three years under the Legal Framework Order (LFO)." Conventions on the LFO would be held on March 22, April 17, May 8 and 27 and June 28 in Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Quetta. The agitation coincides with the first regular session of the National Assembly.
