Sonia, Manmohan not to address meet

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI. JAN. 9. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, and senior party leader, Manmohan Singh, will not be addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas tomorrow as listed in the earlier programme circulated by the organisers.

According to sources, the organisers had not taken prior consent from the two leaders before listing their names in the programme circulated earlier. In the earlier programme circulated by the Ministry of External Affairs and FICCI, Ms. Gandhi was to address a special interactive session from 4.45 pm to 5.30 pm.

However, the programme circulated today revealed that the Congress president will only be ``gracing'' an evening reception.

Dr. Singh was to chair tomorrow's morning session on ``The Global Business Matrix and the Indian Diaspora''. Both the leaders have engagements which they had committed to in advance, and were apparently surprised to see their names listed as participants without their consent.
