No tie-up with AIADMK, says Ramadoss

CHENNAI JAN. 3. While ruling out an alliance with the AIADMK, the PMK founder, S. Ramadoss, today expressed hope that the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre would continue in its present form without any further realignment.

Addressing a press conference, he said an AIADMK-BJP alliance was not likely though the AIADMK was keen to cross over. BJP leaders had clarified that there was no move to take the AIADMK on board.

However, asked about the AIADMK leader and Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, when the NDA constituents had not got any invitation, he said there could be a `secret understanding' between the BJP and the AIADMK. However, he refused to elaborate.

On the Sattankulam byelection, he said there was no scope for opposition unity to fight the AIADMK as the Congress and Left parties were insistent that the DMK, the PMK and the MDMK quit the NDA as a pre-condition for coordination.

In any case, a free and fair byelection was impossible in Tamil Nadu going by the experience of the three previous byelections (Acharapakkam, Vaniyambadi and Saidapet).

Asked about the Hindutva agenda of the BJP, he said the NDA Government had not acted in violation of the agenda for governance.

Dr. Ramadoss also called for a new procedure to remove judges involved in corruption.
