Counter Opposition campaign: PM

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE JAN. 3. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, on Friday asked the BJP workers to be wary of the negative campaign by the Opposition parties against the achievements of his Government and counter it by keeping the people informed about its good work.

Criticising the attitude of some Opposition-ruled State governments which blamed the Centre for their failure to utilise foodgrains provided under various schemes, he said the tendency seemed to be to claim credit when things go right and to blame the Centre for no fault of its.

Despite drought in some States, the problem today was of surplus foodstock and the economy was sound as the Government had handled the situation well. Mr. Vajpayee was addressing the office-bearers of the party's State unit and its legislators at the Bangalore airport.
