Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad

While Dr. Rangarajan and his wife, Haripriya, took the scheduled IC-939, Hyderabad-New Delhi flight at 7.45 a.m., Mr. Barnala arrived by IC-940, New Delhi-Hyderabad flight at 9.25 a.m., accompanied by his wife and daughter. Those who attended both the functions were the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu and his Cabinet of ministers, including Ministers, T. Devender Goud (Home), Y. Ramakrishnudu (Finance), Tummala Nageswara Rao (Roads and Buildings), K. Vijaya Rama Rao (Commercial Taxes), T. Srinivas Yadav (Tourism), P. Ramulu (Sports) and A. Uma Madhava Reddy (Mines and Geology). The Bharatiya Janata Party was represented by its Floor Leader in the Assembly, N. Indrasena Reddy, and MLA, K. Laxman. Others present were the Mayor, Teegala Krishna Reddy, the Chief Secretary, Sathi Nair, the Secretary (Political), Vinay Kumar, the Hyderabad Collector, Rajeshwar Tiwari, and a host of politicians and senior officials from several departments. The outgoing Governor and the Governor-designate inspected an impressive guard of honour and took the salutes from the uniformed personnel. There was an overwhelming presence of people from the Sikh community in the specially-erected pandal to greet Mr. Barnala. They greeted him with shouts of `Bolo So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal'.
