E.R.Sethuram passes away

Bangalore Jan. 3. Endorsi Ramarao Sethuram (84), a veteran journalist, died of heart attack here on Friday. He served as editor of Sudha, a popular Kannada weekly, from 1965 to 1981. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, and a son.

Mr. Sethuram did his B.A. from Maharaja College, Mysore. Before joining Prajavani, a Kannada daily, in 1948, he worked for various publications in Mumbai. A close associate of T.P.Kailasam and cousin of Kidi Seshappa, Mr. Sethuram was given the Rajyotsava Award in 1993 and the prestigious T.S.R. Award in 2001 for his contribution to Kannada journalism.

Mr. Sethuram, an admirer of Carnatic music, had written articles in English on eminent musicians. After his retirement, he became the Editorial Adviser to March of Karnataka, published by the Department of Information. A native of Nanjangud, Mr. Sethuram was President of the Ganakala Parishat and was a recipient of the Sangeeta Nrutya Academy Award. After his retirement from active journalism, Mr. Sethuram taught the subject for a number of years at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore.

The Union Minister for Urban Development, Ananth Kumar, has condoled the death of Mr. Sethuram.
