MLC questions ban on old lorries

Bangalore Jan. 3. The BJP MLC, Ramachandra Gowda, has questioned the ban on entry of lorries that are more than 20 years old into Bangalore.

He has demanded immediate withdrawal of the same. The blanket ban would affect the livelihood of many middle class lorry owners, Mr. Gowda said in a statement here. The Government should instead concentrate action on vehicles, which were causing air pollution.

Mr. Gowda demanded immediate action to withdraw ban so that the lorry owners call off their strike and help prevent spiralling prices.
