dated January 4, 1953: Egyptians Determined to Fight

Fathy Radwan, said in Cairo on the 3rd that Lieutenant-Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser had "defined the general trend" when he said that Egyptians would resort to guerrilla warfare unless Britain withdrew her troops from the Suez Canal zone. "This policy had been defined even more strongly and clearly in secret leaflets circulated by the `Free Officers'", he said. The military junta called Free Officers had dethroned King Farouk in a coup earlier.
