Egyptian Minister of State, M. Fathy Radwan, said in Cairo on the 3rd that Lieutenant-Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser had "defined the general trend" when he said that Egyptians would resort to guerrilla warfare unless Britain withdrew her troops from the Suez Canal zone. The military junta called Free Officers had dethroned King Farouk in a coup earlier.
