Mr. Khan has been quoted as having said in a Pakistani Urdu daily Khabrian that the proposal for LoC conversion could help in resolving the more than five-decade-old Kashmir issue and making people of the region live a peaceful life. Claiming that the case of Pakistan on Kashmir was ``strong enough'', he said Islamabad should not feel scared of any proposal from the United States or India in this regard. He said instead of rejecting each and every proposal from the U.S. and India, Pakistan should consider all aspects of the proposal. However, he cautioned the Islamabad regime from making any proposal from its side. In his advice to the new government headed by Zaffarullah Khan Jamali, he said they should evolve a comprehensive policy on Kashmir after holding consultations with former foreign ministers and Kashmiri leaders. He said the armed struggle could only help in raising the issue but not lead to a solution. Stating that no contact had been made by the Indian Kashmir Committee to meet them, he advocated meeting of people on both sides of Kashmir so that some solution was reached. PTI
