Police caution New Year revellers

CHENNAI DEC. 30. The city police commissioner, K.Vijay Kumar, has warned that police will take stern action against New Year revellers who indulge in violence and harass the public.

The police have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that no untoward incident happened during the celebrations. Action would be taken against those who attempted to forcibly shake hands with strangers, indulged in eve-teasing and those who created nuisance on the roads.

Security has been provided at places of worship.

The Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, G.U.G. Sastry, said motorists were urged not to drive vehicles after consuming liquor. "Triple-riding" on two-wheelers was also prohibited.
