Pakistan PM leaves for Saudi Arabia

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Dec. 30. The Pakistan Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, left on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia for discussions with the Saudi leadership on a wide range of bilateral and other issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Mr. Jamali's visit hours after he secured the confidence of the National Assembly, is essentially meant to perform Haj. However, it assumes significance in the wake of threatening postures by the United States to launch a "pre-emptive" strike on Iraq and the reported decision of the Kingdom to provide bases to the American forces.

During his visit, Mr. Jamali would have meetings with Saudi King, Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, the Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud as well as other Saudi Ministers.
