Disclosing details of the three-day event, the KSC president C.Mohanachandran told a press conference on Monday that the Games would include competitions in nine disciplines. Of the nine disciplines, competitions will be conducted for both boys and girls in athletics, basketball, handball, swimming and volleyball while those in kho-kho will be restricted to girls only. The competitions in football, kabaddi and wrestling will be open only to boys. He said a general criteria had been laid down for the participation in the Games and that prize-money would be awarded to the winners of both the team and individual events. Besides a specially-designed Trophy, the best school would also be awarded Rs. 50,000. Mr. Mohanachandran expressed the hope that the Games would attract the best of talent in the State and witness some keen competitions in the various events. This, in turn, would be helpful for the KSC to identify talent for its various coaching schemes, he added.
