Pondicherry Dec. 30. The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Bachi Singh Rawat, has lauded the JIPMER for its excellent progress in the health care services.

Mr. Rawat told The Hindu that the institute made good use of the facilities provided by the Centre. He was going round the newly established Clinical Immunology Laboratory, which he inaugurated earlier.

Asked about the priority in the budget for science and technology, he said a 35 per cent hike in allocation had been made for the sector against the last year's allotment. The subject was on the high agenda of plan to meet the emerging challenges. The JIPMER laboratory had been copiously funded by the department.
