Misplaced sympathy

Sir, — This has reference to the report "Amnesty dismayed over death sentences" (Dec. 20). Amnesty says that death penalty is a violation of the right to life. All those who were slain on December 13, 2001 also had the right to live. Should the assassins be allowed to roam around freely to plan more murders? Amnesty should show some sympathy to the bereaved ones and also suggest ways and means to tackle terrorism.

Vijay Kumar,

Noida, U.P.
