By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the Exhibition Society secretary, B. Madhava Reddy, said a total of 2,500 stalls were being set up this time. Industrialists and traders from several foreign countries, including Bhutan, Malaysia and Iran, would be joining the event. Special provisions were made for participants of DWCRA groups in this year's exhibition and 75 stalls were allotted to them at important places, he said. Several leading industrial houses and Government and semi-government departments were also putting up their stalls. Towards reducing dust and pollution, most of the roads in the Exhibition Grounds were covered with tar and to increase illumination, high-mast lighting facilities were made. Medical check-up facility at a nominal charge would be provided for the visitors apart from organising specialist camps on Sundays. The events during the exhibition, which would be open till February 15, include a well baby show on January 19 and an exclusive ladies day on January 21. Events for women under artisan contests apart, the society also plans to hold sports tournaments. Keeping with the past practice, distinguished industrialists from the State would be felicitated on the inaugural day of the exhibition. The vice-president of the Exhibition Society, Vasanth Rao, and other office-bearers were also present.
