Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Speaking to press persons here on Friday, Mr. Vijayarama Rao, who is also the chairman of Hyderabad District Water Conservation Mission, said there were no restrictions on supply of water through private tankers as long as necessary permissions from the authorities concerned were obtained. Action was being initiated only against those drawing water illegally from borewells and causing problems to residents in the neighbourhood. In view of the strike by private suppliers, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has decided to add 40 more tankers to its fleet of 226 tankers for supply of water in the city. These 246 tankers will make 12 trips every day. The Minister said that people would not be put to any problem due to the strike. Those in need of water supply through tankers can get it the same day by making necessary payments at either the HMWSSB offices or through e-Seva counters. The HMWSSB also decided to go in for 23 more borewells for drawing water and supplying to consumers. The HMWSSB Managing Director, M.G. Gopal, and senior officials of the board were also present.
