Japanese Minister coming

NEW DELHI Dec. 27. The Japanese Foreign Minister, Yoriko Kawaguchi, will be visiting New Delhi from January 7 to 9. This will be the first visit by a Japanese Foreign Minister to India since July 1997, an official Japanese statement said this evening.

Ms. Kawaguchi will confirm Japan's efforts for further enhancement of the global partnership with India and will also deliver a "policy speech'' during her New Delhi trip.

She will visit Sri Lanka before arriving here. In Colombo, she will reaffirm Japan's intention to support the peace process.
