By Our Staff Reporter
Mr. Thiagarajan shot back, saying the media failed to provide the truth in many cases. The ruling party leader, V.Sukumar Babu, supported him. Mr. Thiagarajan also said owners of hoardings were violating specifications, taking advantage of legal loopholes. The division level engineers have been asked to identify such hoardings and action will be taken against them. In the face of vociferous demand from the DMK, he said a detailed report on the hoardings would be submitted at the next meeting. Mr. Malayan sought a thorough probe into the alleged use of force by a section of rowdies in preventing contractors from submitting tender schedules at the Ripon Buildings. K. Subramaniam of the DMK said many busy stretches in Ashok Nagar and K.K.Nagar were out of shape. The damage caused by rain to Ashok Pillar Main Road and Rajamannar Salai was yet to be repaired. Susheela Gopalakrishnan of the Congress sought an increase in the sitting allowance for councillors, amidst desk-thumping by treasury benches.
