Accompanied by the Delhi Urban Development Minister, A. K. Walia, and a team of senior officials of MCD, Delhi Jal Board, DTC, Food and Supplies Department and two private power companies, the Chief Minister dispensing with official protocol and bureaucratic divisions, mingled with the people of the slum clusters and enquired about their welfare and problems. Giving up the microphone, Ms. Dikshit used her vocal chords to the fullest and shouted instructions to officials for prompt and appropriate action whenever issues were raised. Ms. Dikshit listened to the people and even went down to them to ask if they had any complaints also took an on the sport appraisal of the various developmental works. She went into detail about the grievances of the people and assured them that she would personally look into the problems and ensure that various works which had been initiated were completed on time. "I will be conducting such tours across the Capital during the next three months as part of the programme to get first hand information about the problems of the people and also keep a watch on the implementation of various developmental works. This has been an enriching experience and all the MLAs would be actively involved in this exercise,'' she remarked. Responding to the demands of the residents that educational facilities should be upgraded, Ms. Dikshit announced, to a loud applause from the audience, that three schools would start functioning in Holambi Kalan area from July next year. One would be a primary level school, another a secondary and the third one a senior secondary level school. Ms. Dikshit also inaugurated three bus routes from Holambi Kalan to the Delhi Secretariat and promised that if need arises more buses would be pushed into service to cater to the needs of the people here. The Chief Minister said that all electricity related works would be completed by the end of next month and electric meters would be available to each house. On the demand of the women of the area, the Chief Minister instructed the officials of the Social Welfare Department to establish an Anganwari Kendra in the area and also open a dispensary within 15 days. Although, Ms. Dikshit expressed satisfaction at the execution of the various projects, but she maintained that a lot needs to be done to complete things on time and in a speedy manner. "I have noted down the problems raised by the people. The officials have been given a time frame under which they have to sort this out or they would face action,'' she asserted. Later, in the day, the Chief Minister took a meeting of MLAs from East and South Delhi on their problems relating to power and water. The meeting which went on for around three hours proved to be a fruitful exercise where MLAs raised their problems and many of which found on the spot solutions.
