Cricket
Six other elite group matches and another six plate championship contests also kick off at various centres across the country on Saturday. Mediumpacer Balaji, Tamil Nadu's spearhead, is in marvellous form, picking up 11 wickets each against Uttar Pradesh and Orissa. Considering that this match is to be played on the same wicket as the earlier one (helpful to seamers), Parmar's predicament is understandable. "We want to make a match of it, this being the first time the two states are meeting, and the only way is to play positive cricket," said Parmar, whose side has two points from three matches. Tamil Nadu, on the other hand, is on a high after the innings win over Orissa, though the loss to Uttar Pradesh still rankles it. It has four points from three matches and will be gunning for a bonus point here. Other matches: Elite group: Andhra v Railways in Andhra; Rajasthan v Delhi in Rajasthan; Mumbai v Bengal in Mumbai; HP v Hyderabad in HP; Baroda v Assam in Baroda and UP v Orissa in Kanpur. Plate championship: Services v Goa; Saurashtra v Tripura in Rajkot; Vidarbha v Kerala in Nagpur; Haryana v Karnataka in Haryana, Bihar v Maharashtra in Bihar and MP v J&K in Indore.
