Title for Kalyanarama Baghavathar

CHENNAI Dec. 27 . Listening to good music relieves one of stress and tension and soothes nerves, L. Sabaretnam, Director, Indian Oil Corporation, said here on Wednesday.

Mr. Sabaretnam was inaugurating the first weeklong music festival of the G.K. Foundation Trust.

R. Krishnaswamy, president, Federation of City Sabhas, said ``namasankirthanam'', which aimed at unifying the mind with words and action, was "the foundation of our life today".

Udayalur K. Kalyanarama Baghavathar was conferred with the birudhu, "Namasankirthana Rathna" for propagating traditional sankirthanam.

The awardee, who has been teaching bhajans to schoolchildren for over 25 years, is the recipient of the titles, Bajana Siromani and Sangitha Kausthubam, says the citation.
