Priority for social unity: Governor

GANDHINAGAR Dec. 27. The Gujarat Governor, Sunder Singh Bhandari, has assured the people that the State Government would accord highest priority to maintaining unity and brotherhood among all sections of the society. Addressing the inaugural session of the 11th Assembly here, Mr. Bhandari reiterated the Narendra Modi Ministry's motto of "justice to all, appeasement to none,'' and said it would make every attempt to ensure that no sections of the society felt neglected or deprived. The Government would be committed to the larger interests of the people with a vision to lay a solid foundation for a modern 21st century Gujarat. It would try to fulfil the aspirations of the people for a stable, progressive and dynamic administration and work vigilantly to protect the interests of the State.Later, the House passed the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address after a brief debate. during which the Leader of the Opposition, Amarsinh Chaudhary, placed a 15-point charter before the Government.

Earlier, the House unanimously elected Mr. Mangaldas Patel as Speaker. The Congress made no efforts to contest.
