JD factions stick to their guns on probe

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Dec. 27. The Janata Dal (U) and the Janata Dal (S), during the resumed discussion on the Nagappa issue in the Legislative Assembly today, demanded a CBI inquiry into the mystery surrounding the death of the former minister while in the custody of Veerappan.

A further demand that the Government resign and apologise to the public for its failure to save the life of Nagappa was made by the JD (S) member, C.Chennigappa.

He said the Government had not made sincere efforts to secure the release of Nagappa. It had also not provided adequate security to him before the abduction. S.P.Muddahanume Gowda (Congress), however, justified the decision of the Government to hold a judiciary inquiry.
