'Kaante' director injured in accident

Mumbai Dec. 27. Sanjay Gupta, director of the Hindi movie, `Kaante,' was seriously injured today after his car rammed into a pole on the Mumbai-Pune highway between Panvel and Lonavala, family sources said.

He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital here and his condition is reported to be critical. He has been kept under observation for the next 24 hours, the sources said. Mr. Gupta was returning to Mumbai from Khandala when the accident occurred. A number of film personalities visited the hospital to inquire about his condition.
