Meanwhile, the Bench, comprising Justice K. Padmanabhan Nair and Justice K. Thankappan, directed the Additional Advocate General to report before the court what action the Superintendent of Police had taken on a petition filed by the Catholicos for police protection. According to the petitioner, the Patriarch faction Catholicos, Baselius Thomas I, would enter the church during the festival and it would lead to law and order problems. Besides, the Additional Sessions Court had restrained the Patriarch faction Catholicos from functioning as Bishop and consecrating others as Metropolitans. He was also prevented from entering the churches, especially under the dioceses of Kochi, Angamaly and Kandanad. The petitioner submitted that it was announced in the church that the Patriarch faction leader would conduct religious services at the church during the festival days.
