Inaugurating the Raising Day celebrations-2002 of the VACB at the Police Training College here today, he urged police officers to collect all details about a person before taking action. However, the officials should take care to see that no one was harassed in the name of inquiries. The Chief Minister said the VACB should remain as a terror in the minds of corrupt persons including politicians and common men. At the same time, the officials should not end up as instruments of political vengeance in the hands of politicians, he added. Mr. Antony also urged the staff of the bureau to maintain their integrity and remain as role models for the entire police force. If an employee of this department found it difficult to overcome temptations, he should have the guts to quit the post immediately, he said. The Chief Minister said the Government would take effective steps for the modernisation of the VACB. He also inaugurated a Web site and logo of the VACB. The former Directors of the VACB, M. K. Joseph, Rajgopal Narayan and K. V. Rajagopalan Nair were honoured on the occasion. The Director of the VACB, Hormese Tharakan, the Vigilance Principal Secretary, N. Ramakrishnan, the DIG, R.
