Oriyan handloom exhibition

Pondicherry Dec. 23. A ten-day exhibition-cum-sale of handloom and handicraft products of Orissa is being held in S. S. Thirumana Nilayam here from Monday. Parikshita Pattanayak, president of the` Gania Unnayan' Committee, holding the the exhibition, said the organisation had been devoted from its inception to revive, preserve, promote and propagate the value-oriented and exquisite handicrafts of Orissa.

The exhibition also includes demonstration component to bring to focus, the capability of the artisans making the products.

Training for skill upgradation of the craftsmen, execution of multi-faceted socio-economic developmental programmes and creation of

Self-employment projects were areas of concentration for the committee.

Mr. Pattanayak thanked the Assistant Director of Handicrafts (attached to the Marketing wing of the Development Commissioner of the Handicrafts office) for collaborating with the `Ganiya unnayan' committee in holding the exhibition possible.
