Speaking to presspersons after the adjournment of the Assembly, Mr. Shettar sought a CBI inquiry to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Nagappa rather than a judicial inquiry. The judicial inquiry had been ordered to conceal many facts which were coming out by taking the stand they would be placed before the inquiry. Mr. Shettar wondered if the Government was serious about the Nagappa issue because if it was so, it would have convened the session much earlier to discuss how Nagappa's life could be saved. Now it did not serve any purpose. Moreover, it was not a special session as a number of Bills were included for discussion. Briefing the press about the stand of the JD(U) Legislature Party, the party leader, P.G.R. Sindhia, demanded a CBI inquiry. The party was for interrogation of Raju Gowda as he had links with Veerappan.
