Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. Sivasankaran said that the reward would be computed at the rate of Re. 1 per minute for outgoing call usage. However, there is a rider. A company release said that the reward would be based on least number of outgoing calls in minutes in any month during the 60-month period from January 1, 2003 multiplied by 60 months multiplied by Re 1 per minute. The maximum reward would not exceed Rs. 20,400. The subscriber should be an active Aircel subscriber at the time of claiming the reward. Similarly, he/she should have paid all monthly bills in time and should not have defaulted for more than three times during the 60-month period. Finally the subscriber should be eligible for the reward at the end of the 60-month period from January 1, 2003. The Chairman said all the existing post-paid subscribers would be entitled to the reward at the end of five years. Either the subscribers could opt for a total payment tariff plan or enter into a monthly scheme of payment, which would be Rs. 500 a month. He claimed that the scheme need not require any approval from TRAI.
