Govt. Royapettah Hospital forms academic panel

CHENNAI DEC. 22. The Government Royapettah Hospital has formed an academic committee for organising continuing medical education programmes and co-ordinating with all departments to bring teaching programmes under a single umbrella. The committee will be formally inaugurated by the Health Minister, S. Semmalai, on December 23.

It has been proposed to arrange interactive meetings with eminent professors and encourage and monitor research activities in the hospital, apart from holding regular guest lectures by experienced faculty members from outside, according to R.Thirunarayanan, chairman, and S. M. Chandramohan, secretary of the panel.

The inauguration will also coincide with the completion of the Master Health Check-up Scheme. Totally, 10,000 persons were screened for various problems. On the day of inauguration, a symposium on `current trends in the management of peptic ulcer' will be held.

Meanwhile, the Madras ENT Research Foundation has acquired a Sustained State Evoked Potential (SSEP) equipment at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs for its audiology department.
