Honour to Dara's mother upsets Christian groups

New Delhi Dec. 22. Christian organisations today expressed "utter disgust" at reports of the VHP president, Vishnu Hari Dalmia, honouring the mother of Dara Singh, prime accused in the killing of the Australian missionary, Graham Staines, and his two children, saying this showed "extreme callousness towards the feelings of the Christian community".

"We expected no different from this group of people who have said they will carry out the experiment of fascist communalism they showed in the Gujarat genocide to other States," a statement from the All-India Christian Council and the All-India Catholic Union said.. "We had, however, expected that national leaders such as the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and others in the BJP would feel hurt and express their outrage at this travesty."
