No need for people's movement: Rajnikant

By Our Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE Dec. 22. The film actor, Rajnikant, today said there is no need anymore for a people's movement for linking of rivers, which he announced he would spearhead during the Cauvery crisis recently.

Addressing the 88th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Satchidananda here, he said as the Supreme Court had directed the Central Government to initiate measures towards linking of rivers, there was no need for his movement.

Mr. Rajnikant also called for constitutional amendments to facilitate linking of rivers that would help in averting riparian disputes. He also suggested that the project for linking up of rivers be executed by private parties.
