Indians shine in Hungary

Allahabad Dec. 22 The six-member Indian gymnastics team, including five students of the National Sports Academy here, has won 23 medals in the 28th Tulit Peter Cup International Championship in Hungary.

Indian earned 12 gold, seven silver and four bronze medals, according to the Academy.

The six members of the Indian squad were Rohit Jaiswal, Udai Bhaskar Singh, Abhay Chand Mishra, Alok Ranjan and Devesh Kumar (all from the Academy) and Prashant Dev Nath from Tripura. The Academy's Ajai Sethi was the coach.

Rohit won gold in pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar and silver in floor exercise to emerge the individual all-round champion in his age group.

Abhay won gold in horizontal bar and bronze in parallel bars to become the individual all-round champion in his age group.

Devesh won gold in parallel bars and horizontal bar, silver in vaulting horse and bronze in Roman rings to bag the individual all-round championship in his age group.

Udai won gold in parallel bars, silver in horizontal bar, pommel horse and floor exercises to become the runner-up in individual all-round championship in his age group, the Academy said.
