BJP, VHP communalised polls: Digvijay

By Our Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL DEC. 16. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of communalising the Gujarat elections by polarising the Hindu and Muslim voters.

Mr. Singh made this assertion at a press conference here, adding no one would be allowed to repeat a Godhra or Ahmedabad in Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister expressed the fear that attempts might be made to spread communal violence in Madhya Pradesh in the coming months. Any such attempt by the VHP, the RSS or the BJP would be crushed.

Mr. Singh said the State Government was determined to ban carrying of weapons by any group of persons on religious grounds.
