The First Bench, comprising the Chief Justice, B. Subhashan Reddy, and Justice C. Nagappan, gave the direction to the Income-Tax department, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Director General of Police, after the senior Central Government standing counsel, Madana Gopal Rao, and the Government pleader, Raghupathi, sought more time to file counter-affidavits. The petitioner, Vishwanath Swami, a social activist, said the Kalki Trust for Rural Services, the Kalki Yagnas Trust and the Kalki Healing Mission had obtained IT exemption under Section 80G of the IT Act. But, instead of taking up welfare measures for poor beneficiaries, funds ``worth crores'' were diverted to family-run business entities. He prayed for a comprehensive probe into the Kalki movement's business activities, personal assets and sources of funds within a time frame stipulated by the court.
