NTPC to commission third 500 MW unit

BHUBANESWAR DEC. 16. The National Thermal Power Corporation is now all set to commission the third 500 MW unit of the nation's largest powerhouse being constructed at Kaniha in Orissa's Angul district. According to an NTPC release, decks were being cleared for rolling the third 500 MW unit soon to beat the deadline and wheel large blocks of power to the southern States.

Determined to let the unit go on stream within a record time, expectedly a new world record in power project construction, NTPC had lit up the boiler in September this year and also completed the steam-blowing of the new 500 MW unit on November 30, a year ahead of schedule.
