Investigations revealed that Md. Afzal (36), of Jahanuma, who was earlier, arrested in a similar case and is presently absconding, was the kingpin. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the Joint Commissioner (Security), V. S. K. Kaumudi, said 150 fake certificates of various courses and universities were seized. On a tip-off, the Task Force (South) team raided the office of Maaz Tours and Travels, Nampally, and arrested Mohd. Abdul Sayeed (38), and Mohd. Abdul Raoof (20), and seized 115 fake certificates. Sayeed had been supplying forged certificates with the assistance of Afzal of Jahanuma and Azam of Khilwath, both of whom are at large. Sayeed, was earlier, arrested in a similar case by the Shamsheergunj police. In another raid, the Task Force (Central) team nabbed private school teacher, Y. Radheshyam (53), and Syed Ehsan Raheem (39), of Gandhinagar, at Taj Mahal hotel in Narayanaguda. They confessed to having received fake certificates from Afzal of Jahanuma and Moin of Dabeerpura. Mr. Kaumudi said genuineness of signatures of various officials and their respective office seals on the certificates were being probed. The accused told police that they supplied fake certificates to hundreds of persons who secured jobs abroad and within the country. In some cases, failed students approached them with their original certificates based on which forged certificates with higher percentage of marks were issued.
