FIA nod for MRF India Rally

CHENNAI DEC. 15. The MRF India Rally, organised by the Himalayan Rally Association in Bangalore between Dec. 5 and 8 as a Candidate event, was approved as a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship for the season 2003 by the FIA at its World Council meeting in Monte Carlo on Friday.

The decision was based on the FIA observer's report.

The approved APRC 2003 calendar is as follows: March 28-30: International Alpine Rally, Japan (subject to Rally Commission's decision); May 2-4: Canberra, Australia; June 6-8: New Caledonia; July 11-13: Rotorua, New Zealand; Sept. 12-14: Hokkaido, Japan; Oct. 11-13: Shaoguan, China; Oct. 31-Nov. 2: Thailand; Dec. 5-7: MRF India Rally.

According to the FIA regulations, drivers registered for the APRC will have to compete in a minimum of three rallies in the Asian leg and two in the Pacific half.
