"It is possible. Anything is possible in politics," Mr.Karunanidhi quipped, in response to a query from mediapersons. Significantly, Mr. Karunanidhi refused to join issue with the Congress for its executive resolution accusing the DMK of continuing an "opportunistic" alliance with the BJP at the Centre. "I do not like to make any comment that would weaken the fight against the AIADMK government. To fight the anarchic regime, we need a strong, united force." On poll triumph of the BJP in Gujarat, he disagreed with suggestions that it was a victory for communal forces.
