SUNABEDA, , DEC. 15. The Defence Minister, George Fernandes today laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 320-crore factory for manufacturing the AK31FP engine that powers the Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is scheduled deliver the first engine to the Indian Air Force by the middle of 2004. Talking to presspersons Mr. Fernandes said there was a need for all to be alert in the fight against terrorism. Asked about MiG crashes, he said, the number had been coming down over the years.
