The CPI(M) central committee which had last month endorsed the politburo's stand to join the coordination committee is keen that the Government gets down to implement the common minimum programme agreed to by the coalition partners. The Mufti-led Government is expected to be expanded soon but the CPI(M) has preferred to be part of the coordination committee instead of joining the Government. The Mufti who hosted the CPI(M) general secretary, Harkishan Singh Surjeet, the politburo members, Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury, and the party State secretary, Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami, for lunch is understood to have sought the party's cooperation in implementing the agreed programme.
