By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Nov. 16. Two AIADMK legislators, A. Kasilingam and A. Anbalagan, and the secretary of the AIADMK Pondicherry committee, K. Natarajan, were among 89 volunteers of the party who were taken into custody at Karaikal today when they attempted to take out a procession to stage a blackflag demonstration against the Karnataka Government`s ``negative stand in releasing Cauvery water for the Karaikal region.''

According to the police, the agitation was launched some hours before the arrival of the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, by helicopter here to offer prayers at the Saneeswarar temple at Tirunallar.

Fortynine MDMK and 30 DPI volunteers were also held at Tirunallar when they launched a demonstration a few hours before Mr. Krishna's arrival there.
