3 BJD MPs expelled

By Prafulla Das

BHUBANESWAR NOV. 16. Three Biju Janata Dal MPs were today expelled from the party for six years. Jagannath Mallick, Pravat Kumar Samantaray and Kumudini Patnaik were expelled for "conspiring" against the party president and Orissa Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik.

The decision to expel the MPs was taken by Mr. Patnaik in consultation with senior party leaders, the secretary-general of the BJD, Damodar Rout, said.

The three MPs had been suspended from the party on August 9 for "anti-party activities". Later, they had joined hands with three other party MPs to elect their own party leader in the Lok Sabha.
