Although the agenda is being finalised, the meeting, to be chaired by the Water Resources Secretary, A.K. Goswami, will take note of the water flows into Mettur reservoir in Tamil Nadu from Karnataka. In its hearing on November 15, the Supreme Court asked the Centre to indicate on the next hearing on November 22 when a meeting of the CRA would be convened. The CRA meeting would be called by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. However, the CMC, which assists the Prime Minister, normally meets to review the situation before the political-level CRA is convened. This time on too it will take note of Karnataka's assertion that it had released more water than stipulated to Tamil Nadu, while the latter claims a shortfall. The last time the CMC met was in October to finalise a ground assessment report for the Supreme Court which is hearing a contempt plea against the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna.
