NEW YORK: The international spiritual leader, Sri Chinmoy (71), recently honoured 228 luminaries from more than 35 countries and all walks of life, including 10 Olympians, by lifting them in the air in a spectacular display of human strength and inner power. They included five-time Mr. Universe Bill Pearl, the long jump immortal Bob Beamon, and the Indian Ambassador to the United Nations, Vijay K. Nambiar. During the programme, `Lifting Up the World with an Oneness-Heart', Sri Chinmoy broke the public standing calf raise record by raising a mammoth mountain of metallic plates weighing 1900 pounds.
