Copter service for Katra shrine

KATRA NOV. 16. A helicopter service for the benefit of pilgrims visiting Vashino Devi shrine restarted from Katra this morning. The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, G.C. Saxena, who is also the chairman of the Vashino Devi shrine board, inaugurated the Deccan helicopter service.

Earlier, the helicopter service had been discontinued after a crash.

Initially, a six-seater chopper would offer service to pilgrims, which would later be enhanced to 15 seaters. The service would reduce the paucity of time. A normal 12 km trek from Katra to Vashino Devi shrine takes five to eight hours.

On other hand, the service would also be a boon for the aged and physically challenged pilgrims.
