Also, officials found that she had concealed some foreign currency inside the hollow pipes of her suitcase stroller. While Rs. 3 lakh worth foreign currency was being carried inside the rectum, about Rs. 5 lakhs worth of similar currency had been hidden in the suitcase stroller. The currencies being smuggled out largely included Saudi and Qatar riyals as well as dirhams. The notes, officials added, had been meticulously rolled into a tiny bundle. Ms. Bano was reportedly a frequent traveller to the Middle-East. While she has been arrested under relevant sections of the Customs Act, investigations are on to find out the exact source of the currency here and its final destination. In an earlier incident, Customs officials recovered foreign currency worth about Rs. 2 lakhs from one Salim. The notes had been concealed inside a false bottom made specially for this purpose in his suitcase. Between January and now, officials at IGIA Customs claimed to have seized more than Rs. 4 crore worth foreign currency.
